The Essential Collective Theatre is very excited to have
partnered again this year with Hernder Estates Winery for its
third Wine & Reading Series. Audiences are invited to take a
tour of the beautiful and picturesque winery located on the
edge of St Catharines. After an informal tasting session the
latter half of the evening will feature a staged reading of 2 new
works by up-and-coming Niagara Playwrights! The event is
pay-what-U-can so be early to ensure yourself a seat!
Thanks to all for helping make She's Mine our must successful production to date!
She’s Mine by Stephanie Jones tells the story of Sara, a mother of 3, wife of twelve years to Joe and a long standing member of her local church. Sarah’s life is turned upside down when she falls in love with Ann, her daughter’s Catholic high school guidance councillor. Suddenly she is confronted with a choice: devastate her family by coming out of the closet or maintain the status quo and sacrifice her own happiness.

She's Mine a Success!
St. Catharines, Ontario, May 25, 2009 Local artists and representatives of Niagara
arts organizations, representing a wide variety of disciplines, streamed to St.
Catharines’ Lower Level Parking Lot on Friday, hopeful for news of funding from the
federal and provincial governments for an arts centre for Downtown St. Catharines.
Cheers and applause broke out at the news, delivered by St. Catharines M.P. Rick
Dykstra, St. Catharines M.P.P. Minister Jim Bradley, and St. Catharines Mayor Brian
McMullan, that each level of government will contribute $18 million to the construction
of a new Niagara Centre for the Arts. The $54 million represents the largest cultural
investment in the history of Niagara. (Full Story click here)
